GROUP HISTORY           

                          Steve Erickson – Lead and Guitar

      Steve has great experience playing guitar and singing in known artist groups. He was a member of the Crests where he played both bass and guitar and added vocals to their performances.  He has also performed with the Belmonts, The Earls, and the Starlighters.  Steve is proficient in the music of the fifties, sixties, and seventies. He sings both lead and tenor backgrounds as well.



                            Karen Beals - Alto

       Karen has been a professional vocalist in one genre or another for most of her adult life. During the 90's, she sang with an Italian wedding band from Northern New Jersey, called "Le Nouve Anime".  The group performed regularly at parties and festivals in the tri-state area, including the Italian Feast in Wilmington Delaware, and the San Genaro Feast in Manhattan.  Dabbling in Jazz for a while Karen performed in clubs and restaurants, with Jazz Guitarist Steve Raleigh and pianist Dave Meyers. She also appeared with "The NY Swing Machine" for New Years Eve 1999.  At that point, Karen put music aside for a while to accept a position on "The Woodman In The Morning Show" on k-104 Radio in Poughkeepsie, NY.  But music kept calling her back so she joined a rock band called 337, to sow some of her wild oats.  At the same time she also joined an all girls oldies group called "The Ponytails" ("Born Too Late"). This offshoot of the original group performed with such notables as "The Teenagers", "The Del Vikings". and "The Belmonts".  Karen is now delighted to join "Memories Of You", to continue performing the music of the fabulous 50's.



                                      Howard Brock - Tenor and Musical Arranger

       Howard has been involved in music since an early age, first playing accordion as a child and in a Carnegie Hall concert at age 13.  Later on he was a keyboard player in Greenwich Village NY and with bands in the Catskills and around the city. He recorded original doo-wop music with “The Invictas” in 1959, associated with the Mohawk/Laurie record label. With “Memories Of You” since 1999 as a founding original member.  Has played keyboards and provided musical arrangements and original music for many Jazz and Rock bands.  He has performed with the Robroys and the Students.  Originally from the Bronx, NY and currently  resides in Rockland County, New York.  



                                         Bob Freedman - Baritone                                                                               

        Coming from a musical family, Bob's been singing as long as he can remember.  He started playing piano at 8, later learned guitar from a band-mate, then bass.  He started his first band at 15, which later was "discovered" by a singer/songwriter from Bob Crew's organization  "Richard and the Young Lions". recorded on Phillips and toured the country with their first 45 single, "Open Up The Door" in mid-1966, which hit #1 in Detroit, Cleveland, and elsewhere.  They shared the stage with many great acts: The Temptations, Bob Seger, Del Shannon, Lou Christie, The Chiffons, The Left Banke, Mitch Ryder and many others.  They also did a Murray the K show in NYC.  They appeared on TV; Robin Seymour's Swingin' Time, Hy Lit Show, Jerry Blavat Show and Upbeat, twice. Since 1989, Bob performed with 45 RPM (of which he was a co-founder) the popular North Jersey Rock and Roll band which has recently disbanded. With two appearances on the Don K Reed Doo Wop Shop and the  honor of playing with Emile  Stucchio & the Classics, The Duprees, Shirley Austin Reeves, The Brooklyn Bridge,  Jay Siegel  & The  Tokens, Speedo & The Cadillac's.         


                                        Peter Sherwood - Bass

     Peter has performed a broad range of oldies and popular music over the past 40 years.  He has entertained audiences with both all male and coed groups including Make Believe and Steppin’ Out, a well known Barber Shop QuartetA resident of Wayne, NJ, Pete is a long time member of both the United In Group Harmony Association and the Barbershop Harmony Society. In Memories Of You he is Mr. Bassman!



     Rick Jackson - Guitar

     Rick has been a performing musician more than 40 years. He has been the guitarist in the Rob-Roys as well as the bass voice.  Rick has been the backup musician for many popular groups including “Frankie Lymon’s Original Teenagers”, “The Duprees” and “The Crests”.  In addition, he has performed with such bands as “The Blue Notes”, “Soundwave”, “Mixed Company” and The Delmonicos” and recently with the Cameos.




                                           Rich Leavy - Drums

     Rich has been in music all of his life. He was a Recording Engineer for 15 years and recorded some big stars; Stevie Wonder, Tony  Orlando, Tommy James and the Shondells, Vanessa Williams and Tito Puente.  He has been the drummer for The Marvelettes, Vito Picone and the Elegants, Freddy Cannon, The Devotions, Lenie Coco and the Chimes, The Dubs, and The Crests. Also in newer bands like The Fugitives, Crazy Emma, Red Dog, The Music City Band, the Alan Quinn Orchestra and many more. Now he brings his considerable talents to the Memories Of You Band.




   Paul "Butch" Mastranda - Bass

     Butch has played guitar and bass for his entire life. He has worked in bands as a teenager and on. He has been the music behind the Del Vikings. He has played with such great recording groups as the Regents, The Belmonts, and Larry Chance and the Earls. We welcome his talent to the Memories Of You Band.
